The Gumboot Nation

green-bootsThe area now known as Roberts Creek is the traditional territory of both the Shishalh and Squamish First Nations. Roberts Creek was traditionally known as “Hwah-sam” meaning, “big fat salmon.”  Settlers arrived in 1889.

Those of us who live in Roberts Creek are proud of the history and sense of community that flourishes here.  We try to look after each other and keep the fires of community burning. We love our artists, actors, gardeners, musicians, academics, loggers, draft dodgers, carpenters, fisherfolks, writers, teachers, small businesses, doctors, veterans and old timers.

We are proud of our reputation as “The Independent Nation of Roberts Creek.”
